Yes, I am a Viking’s fan so the thought of a headline like this shouldn’t surprise many of you. But when a logical person thinks about it, in many ways it must be true. Everytime we sign a washed up Packer, they end up having a career year and their careers continue to advance. Ryan Longwell, Darren Sharper, Brett Favre, and now Javon Walker. Kind of makes you wonder if the Packers may be talent killers.Now, I know there are those out there that will protest and say the Packers have won 3 Super Bowls while the Vikings have not won any. That’s true and as much as I would like to change it, I cannot. This fact proves that Vikings fans are better than Packer fans. It’s easy to cheer for a team that has previously won it all, why else do you think the Steelers have such a following? No, Vikings fans suffer together and it makes us stronger. Sure, winning it all last year would have felt good, but it would have made us complacent. The loss kept us hungry, and hunger lets you know you are alive.

Robert Ferguson. ‘Nuff said. You are welcome to take the Packers’ runoff. Walker will never make it back to his old form, and he and Favre have some bad blood between them since “the holdout”.
Reid, thank you for the response. A couple quick points to note, Robert Ferguson was never any good with the Packers. His best season with the Packers was his 2nd season (in 2003) where he had 38 receptions for 520 yards and 4 TD. His QB was Brett Favre who had 308 completions for 3,361 yards and 32 TD. His second best season was his first with the Vikings (2007) where he had 32 receptions for 392 yards and 1 TD. His QB for 12 games was T-Jack (total of 171 receptions for 1,911 yards, and 9 TD). Kelly Holcomb and Brooks Bollinger split the other games with a combined 75 receptions for 906 yards and 3 TD.
Given the difference in QB performances I would still say that despite the fact that Ferguson really wasn’t any good to start, he had his best season in 2007, his first with the Vikings. As for Walker, only time will tell. If he is healthy, Favre and Walker could be an interesting pair again.
Come on now this argument that Vikings fans are better than Packers fans wreaks of self justification why the Vikings are just a so, so team. Not to mention Vikings fans have to be the most warm-weathered fans in the league, the only reason an article like this was written was because the Viking had a good year last year, as soon as it slows back down, half the fans will return to being Cheeseheads. Hey, what do you call a Vikings player with a Super Bowl ring? Answer, a thief, or I guess that could be updated to an ex-Packer player.
The reason that talented players leave GB is because the Packers can’t afford to pay them what other teams can!!
Good point Ted. With the labor situation in flux on a consistent basis. Better to be frugal than not. True Vikings fans are born and raised Purple. As TRUE Packer fans are Cheeseheads from birth. The NFL is American Idol for our warrior soul in a marketing sense. Winning makes you a fan fave and/or America’s MOST HATED Team. Sorry for the Cowboys reference. I digress. I am a True Viking-Scandanavian decent and all and they are the Cowboys. How many former Vikings have Superbowl rings. Many. The Vikings and every other TEAM evaluates talent and juggles financially what it takes to reach the Lombardi Trophy. The Packers have the most unique ownership situation in all of sports. I am a little jealous of that. The Vikings have has solid ownership and good, talented teams for the most part. No Trophy, yet. That’s what it comes down to. Now, as far as which team has the best fans? Parity. By the end of the year every fan wants their team to be the most popular. a.k.a….Superbowl Champion. In other words, I’m hoping we TRUE VIKING Fans scoop up every casual and fair weather fan along the way to Dallas in February.
